Human Sand Bag

Rehearsal last night was a little weird. Our soprano was supposed to be with us in rehearsal so we could stage and practice the scene where her character gets kidnapped. Oddly, the opera's adminstration decided our soprano needed to be at a concert, singing to raise money for the company's future opera productions instead.

So, we arranged for a stand in for our rehearsal. While our stand in learned the music flawlessly, she was about 100 pounds lighter than our soprano. Of course, this made the picking up and flinging of the soprano character over the shoulder supremely easy on the guys who do the kidnapping, however it did nothing for us realistically.

At this point, I raised my hand and offered to stand in for the stand in since I am closer (only slightly) in weight to the soprano.

Fighting my modern feminist instincts, I must admit, there is something primitively romantic about being slung over the shoulder of a strapping young man and being run away with...or at least being carried all over the stage.

Another perk to my line of work is discovered....

After the evening over and I was driving home, I thought about my actions. Why on earth would I volunteer to stand in as a more realistic (heavier) body double?

Answer?

I ran an extra mile this morning...

Interesting. I just opened my "snack" cabnet here at work and realized I had a very large 5oz Hersey chocolate bar (with almonds). Never turning down chocolate I decided to have a taste. It did not take long to realize just how creamy and smooth and delicous this was. So, I kept eating. I will not release the exact quantity I consumed at this particular sitting, but I will admit my stomach is hurting ... so much for volunteering as the human sand bag ... :(

Hummm...5 oz would be toast in one sitting for me...with no stomach aches at all. Maybe I should do more than just carry Samantha around the house...
